I really haven't forgotten about posting, but sometimes life gets in the way and other things take over for a while. Nothing unpleasant, but there just wasn't any time left for minis. Weeeell, except for a visit to the show in Apeldoorn, where I bought some tools. A milling/drilling machine and a 'preeg' set from Tine Krijnen for tooling/decorating leather for books or a leather inset in a desk. I'm still experimenting and will post if and when I have something to show you!
In the meantime I have had a very productive run of making more pots!
This is what it looked like when I left the pottery class and I can tell you I was really pleased with the results, even though it doesn't look like much yet.
That still looks pretty messy, and as I filled the moulds again just before I left, these pots had to stay in the mould overnight. After some serious cleaning up I now have these ready for the bisque firing.
With all the bits of clay coming off the moulds I made a few more plates, but they aren't out of the mould just yet. The open bowl was originally the same as the one on the right of it, but on the edge of the pot it was too thin, and so I have the makings of a fruit bowl as well as the vase! I'm still trying to decide whether to stay with blue and white or experiment a bit with other colours...
Happy mini-time!
Idske
Dear Idske,
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice and perfect pottery !! I'm curious to the end result.
Hugs Dorien
Hi Idske! Your pots are so tiny and so beautifully made. You are very talented! As for the colour, I would do a collection of blue and white. You could also look through books and magazines to see what other colour scheme you could try for the next batch.
ReplyDeleteHoi Liduina, all these have been thrown on the wheel on top of a cone, but as solid pots. This makes them much easier to handle when making a mould. I have also made 'proper' wheel thrown pots, but they tend to be a bit too heavy for 1/12th scale. The ones from the moulds weigh a few grams after firing! I'll keep trying though!

Idske, wat fijn om weer eens wat werk van jou te zien. Deze potjes zien er in elk geval piekfijn uit! Misschien dat je toch weer blauw wit kunt proberen? Ik vond de tegeltjes van je give away erg mooi.
ReplyDeleteEen heel fijn weekend gewenst! Liefs, Ilona
Any chance of a photo showing you making the pots on a wheel. I'd love to see how it is done.
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, there's one that Yolande took in the 12 September 2012 post. Shows clearly how messy it is!
DeleteThose are some really lovely shaped pots! I would be itching to start experimenting with colour. Maybe a few is blue and white and a few in colour ;-)
ReplyDeleteYour pots are fantastic. I'm curious to see them colored.
ReplyDeleteBye, Faby
Es un trabajo muy delicado, el resultado es sensacional
ReplyDeleteUn abrazo
I think that your pots are very pretty and they have very nice shapes to them too. I am sure that whatever color you make them will just make them even more beautiful. I suppose too that the color would depend on if they were made for yourself and destined for a particular room or to be for sale or as a gift for others. Things to be considered. Good work!

Those are so very lovely. I'm fond of citrus colors right. I wish that there were some where near me that offered mini pottery classes, it looks like a lot fun. I look forward to seeing more.
groetjes,
Gee
