I changed my mind about the blue and started again, unpicking was just not an option and I still have plenty of this fabric. This colour combination is much better! Working top down from left to right works for me to avoid handling the cream background too much.
And then I started the branch in the top right hand corner. Is it too dark? It's still easy to remove, but I need to decide before I go much further. . .
Decisions, decisions...
So far approx 3700 cross stitches in 32.5 hours on 32 count fabric, finished size 15x20cm. Without too much unpicking, it should take about 400 hours, I wonder over how many months...

Idske, the rug is going to be stunning, from the photo, the branch does look a tad too dark. Enjoy stitching it, I always tell myself each stitch done is one closer to the finish, rugs do take a long time to stitch, so I like to do something smaller in between.

Thanks Elga, looking at it in daylight it really is too dark, it's only 1 thread so it shouldn't take too long to unpick.

Goede morgen Idske! Ik ben het eens met Elga, de donkere kleur lijkt op het pc-scherm inderdaad nogal donker. Misschien een tintje lichter gebruiken nu het nog kan. Ik heb járen geleden ook veel tapijtjes geborduurd, was een heel werk, doe het nu niet meer zo gauw. Veel succes en wil je af en toe laten zien hoe ver je bent gekomen?

Hi Ilona, ik ga het uithalen, het is inderdaad te donker. Nu nog uitvinden wat dan wel de goede kleur is! Ik heb ook jaren lang tapijtjes geborduurd en het gaat langzamer dan ik me herinner, haha. Maar ik heb eindelijk een idee voor deze kamer dus moet het toch gebeuren. Ik beschouw het wel als een tussendoor project, want er moet nog veel meer gebeuren...
