Apeldoorn 2012!

I went to the Apeldoorn Show last Sunday. It was quite a last minute decision as I didn't arrive in the Netherlands until Saturday 6pm after a -thankfully- uneventful drive. It took quite some time to have a look at all on offer at the show. There were some stalls with seriously beautiful furniture, porcelain and glass, awe inspiring!  

A lovely potter, Cocky Wildschut was kind enough to talk to me about her porcelain techniques and give me some tips to take back to my class. I also bought this lovely blue and white dish from her! 







I didn't stop there, though..
The next item was the glass decanter, unfortunately I forgot the name of the maker. His glass was just beautiful and I had to keep in mind what I wanted for my house, because I could have really gone overboard and bought lots of glass.
In front of the boxfile, which really needs a new name, are all of my goodies from Apeldoorn. Lots of jewellery findings for making lamp shades, candle holders, picture frames and anything else I can think of for the boxfile shop, some 'linden' wood (lime wood?) and small clamps, as you can never have enough clamps when making miniature furniture! :)

    Wow, you drove to the show? Now that shows dedication!
    Lovely purchases, and how wonderful you got to talk shop with Cocky! I take classes with her each year and it's so much fun! Just the painting mind you, I'm not doing any pottery myself.

      Not really, sorry to disappoint. It was autumn half term and I drove to the Hague to visit family and I came back home on Thursday, to check that dear son is actually working for his exams in January. So Apeldoorn was a 4 hour 'detour' on the way to my sister, who lives near Steenwijk.

      It was really interesting talking to Cocky. She told me that the warping in the tiles, could well have happened in the kiln. She described how she fires her pots and vases, that even where you place them in the kiln makes a difference. I now know I need to experiment a lot more. I'll post about it, when I get to that stage.

      Thank you, Elga. It was only my second show ever. I'm definitely planning on one here in England as they keep telling me in Holland that they are much better, can't imagine that, so I should check it out, don't you think?

    Hi Idske, wat leuk dat je in Apeldoorn bent geweest! Je hebt mooie aankopen kunnen doen, gezien de drukte ben je toch goed geslaagd. Ik zou ook wel eens in Engeland naar een beurs willen gaan, iedereen heeft het daarover.....
